Princess Diana would be so disappointed in Prince Harry marrying Meghan Markle

For many royal enthusiasts, it was a long-awaited encounter that seemed unlikely to occur.

King Charles and Prince Harry reunited for the first time in nearly a year and a half last week, sparking hope for a potential resolution to the ongoing Windsor family strife.

The historic meeting took place at Clarence House, where the pair shared a cup of tea and conversation for about 55 minutes.

While many see this as a sign of improved relations between the estranged father and son, Harry is now facing fresh scrutiny regarding his recent behavior.

Paul Burrell, a former butler and close confidant of Princess Diana, expressed how deeply disappointed the late princess would be with Harry’s actions in recent years.

Burrell believes that had Diana been alive, Harry would have chosen a different path, particularly in his relationship with his brother, Prince William.

In a candid interview with The Mirror, Burrell took the opportunity to voice his concerns, even nicknaming Harry and Meghan “Ginge and Whinge.” He argues that their marriage likely wouldn’t have occurred had their mother been present, highlighting a dynamic he feels has shifted drastically since Diana’s passing.

Burrell, who witnessed the young princes grow up at Highgrove and Kensington Palace, emphasized that Harry seems unrecognizable compared to the “kind boy” he once was, underlining that Diana’s hopes for Harry were rooted in family loyalty and support for William.

“Would Harry have been disappointed by Harry’s behavior in the last few years?

Yes, she would have,” he said.

He expressed that Diana’s dream was for Harry to stand by William as he navigated his royal duties.

Currently, however, William feels he can only rely on himself, as trust between the brothers has significantly eroded.

Reflecting on Harry’s childhood, Burrell recounted moments that exemplified Harry’s playful and generous nature.

He recalled how Harry would distribute £5 notes to his friends and the ease with which he lived as a royal.

Yet, Burrell noted that the present Harry seems burdened by a different set of concerns – one that deviates from the carefree persona he once embodied.

Burrell firmly believes that the prince’s sense of entitlement and frustration aligns with a drastic transformation from the warm child he once was.

“He used to be fun-loving and kind-hearted; now, he seems to focus on trivial grievances,” Burrell observed, connecting Harry’s new perspective to a life of privilege that contrasts starkly with everyday struggles faced by many Britons today.

With Harry reportedly growing weary of the public’s perception that he is a “petulant prince,” Burrell challenged him to recognize his position in the world.

“You’re not the center of the universe, Harry.

Just grow up,” he insisted, reinforcing the notion that public sentiment is shifting away from the couple.

In light of their recent meeting, Burrell speculated whether King Charles shares a similar desire for reconciliation, indicating that the monarch’s religious beliefs may play a role in his willingness to forgive.

The relationship has faced numerous challenges since the infamous Megxit announcement, and recent controversial moments, including Harry’s memoir and ongoing legal battles, have only exacerbated tensions.

When reflecting on the once close bond between Harry and William, Burrell expressed doubt that reconciliation is possible.

The historical context suggests that as brothers, they may find it challenging to bridge the gap that has developed.

“William has made it clear he doesn’t want Harry to speak publicly about their family,” Burrell remarked, adding that Harry’s disregard for such requests only deepens their rift.

Burrell attributes much of Harry’s transformation to his relationship with Meghan Markle.

He believes that had Diana lived, Harry would have chosen a much different life path, and their mother would likely have guided him toward marrying someone of royal descent, rather than an American actress with a strong will.

On a lighter note, Burrell mused about a scenario where Diana might have relocated to California to offer Meghan motherly advice, but he also acknowledged the complexities such a dynamic might bring.

He expressed a genuine desire for Harry to embody the values Diana instilled in him.

Despite his candid criticism, Burrell’s ultimate goal remains to support Harry in becoming the person his mother always envisioned.

His affection for both brothers is evident, demonstrating that, at the end of the day, familial love remains a pivotal part of their complicated narrative.

The Mirror reached out to representatives for both Harry and William but did not receive an immediate response.

Burrell’s new book, “The Royal Insider: My Life with the Queen, the King, and Princess Diana,” is currently available, further shedding light on his experiences with the royal family.
