How Prince Harry tried to get Meghan a job at Disney, but failed

In an unexpected twist, a video has resurfaced showing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle lightheartedly discussing voiceover opportunities with Jon Favreau, the renowned director behind the 2019 remake of “The Lion King.”

This playful pitch took place during the film’s London premiere back in July 2019, just months before the couple made headlines with their decision to step back from royal duties.

In the clip, which recently made the rounds online, Harry can be heard casually mentioning to Favreau, “Next time anyone needs any extra voiceover work, we can make ourselves available.” This statement was made shortly after the couple exchanged pleasantries with superstar duo Beyoncé and Jay-Z.

Meghan chimed in humorously, telling Favreau, “That’s really why we’re here, to pitch.” Subsequent to this banter, Harry added with a laugh, “Anything like that, just not Scar.

That’s a no to Scar.” This light-hearted moment showcases the engaging rapport the couple shared with the Disney executive.

Interestingly, another clip from the same premiere showed Harry discussing a potential voiceover role for Meghan with Disney CEO Bob Iger.

Harry pointed out that Meghan had experience in voiceover work and expressed her interest in such a project.

Iger responded positively, indicating, “We’d love to try.”

Fast forward to recent reports, and it appears Meghan indeed secured a voiceover deal with Disney, with her earnings intended for donation to the cause of Elephants Without Borders, a conservation charity.

As of yet, Disney hasn’t released an official statement regarding this arrangement.

Amidst these developments, it’s important to remember that on January 8, Harry and Meghan made the groundbreaking announcement about stepping down as senior members of the royal family in pursuit of financial independence.

Queen Elizabeth offered her insights into their situation, noting, “Following many months of conversations and more recent discussions, I am pleased that together we have found a constructive and supportive way forward for my grandson and his family.”

In her statement released on Saturday, the Queen reaffirmed her affection for Harry, Meghan, and their son Archie.

She acknowledged the pressures they’ve faced under public scrutiny and voiced her support for their desire for a more independent lifestyle.

The upcoming transition for the Sussexes is set to take effect this spring, according to Buckingham Palace’s announcements.

They expressed gratitude to the Queen and the Royal Family for their ongoing support as they begin this new chapter in their lives.

As part of this change, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be stepping back from royal duties, which also includes official military appointments.

Moreover, their announcement reinforced that they will no longer receive public funds for royal undertakings.

Yet, with the Queen’s endorsement, Harry and Meghan will continue to keep their private patronages and associations active.

Although they won’t formally represent the Queen moving forward, they have assured that their endeavors will continue to uphold her values.

As for their titles, they will no longer use their HRH designations since they aren’t working royals anymore.

Additionally, the couple plans to repay taxpayer funds used for the renovation of Frogmore Cottage, which will still serve as their family home in the UK.

Buckingham Palace has stated that comments regarding security arrangements will remain undisclosed, emphasizing that there are established independent processes to evaluate the necessity of publicly funded security measures.
