Meghan Markle’s dad ‘struggling’ after moving to Philippines

Thomas Markle Sr., the estranged father of Meghan Markle, is encountering significant difficulties as he attempts to adjust to life in the Philippines.

Sources reveal that the 80-year-old is struggling to find his footing after relocating from his hillside home in Rosarito, Mexico, where he spent over a decade.

This year, Thomas made the bold decision to move to Cebu Island, accompanied by his son and Meghan’s half-brother, Thomas Jr., who is 58 years old.

The duo arrived eager for a fresh start.

However, the transition has not been as seamless as they hoped, with various factors complicating their acclimatization.

Settling into a $670-per-month high-rise apartment, Thomas Sr. had initially stayed in a nearby three-star hotel before finding his current residence.

Despite the picturesque setting, insiders report that he faces considerable challenges adapting to the local climate, language, and way of life.

A source close to Thomas remarked, “They took the plunge and relocated to Southeast Asia, but the adjustment has been tough.” Fortunately, the father-son dynamic provides some comfort amid the upheaval they are experiencing.

Cebu’s extreme summer temperatures, which fluctuate between 80 and 100 degrees with humidity often hitting 90%, have made it especially taxing for Thomas Sr., who has health issues.

He now relies on a cane to navigate the island’s uneven terrain, highlighting his struggles in this new environment.

Thomas’s new life in the Philippines places him approximately 7,257 miles away from Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, and their children, Archie, now 6, and Lilibet, who recently celebrated her 4th birthday.

Despite the geographical distance, the emotional distance seems insurmountable, as Thomas Sr. has not spoken to his daughter since 2018.

The rift between father and daughter escalated just before Meghan’s wedding to Harry, continuing to worsen following Thomas’s health issues, including a stroke in 2022.

He has yet to meet his grandchildren, adding to the heartbreak of their estrangement.

Before moving overseas, Thomas expressed an eagerness to explore Southeast Asia, praising the region for its “culture and beauty.” In January, he mentioned feeling confined and eager for change, hoping to experience kindness in a new location.

His aspirations included finding a more tranquil lifestyle to distance himself from the tumult of recent years.

While Thomas has shown a desire to reunite with Meghan and her family, his appeals remain unanswered, as if they’ve been swallowed by silence.

Throughout his difficulties, he has made poignant “deathbed pleas” to reconnect with Meghan, hoping for a reconciliation that seems increasingly out of reach.

He openly declared, “I’m not running away; I’m seeking a more positive life.”

In his heart, Thomas dreams of a future where his family can unite like a “normal” family, sharing moments together.

His thoughts linger on his grandchildren and the potential joy of being part of their lives, yet disappointment shadows his aspirations as each day passes without contact.

Despite Meghan’s public endeavors and her new Netflix show, which seems to be creating its own share of excitement and scrutiny, Thomas continues to hold on to hope that one day they might bridge the significant gap that has formed in their relationship.
